Cory Boyd Hired as Assistant for Co-Lin Cheer

WESSON – Cory Boyd has been hired as an assistant coach for Co-Lin Cheer. Boyd is a graduate of Co-Lin where he played football in the 1999-2000 season and then was a cheerleader in 2000-2001.

Boyd then attended the University of Southern Mississippi where he was a cheerleader from 2001-2004 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Coaching and Sports Administration. Boyd has over a decade worth of experience as a cheer coach including where he currently works at Gym of Dreams in Brookhaven where he is the athletic director and head coach.

Boyd has 150 regional and national elite competitive cheer titles to his credit as a coach as well as 12 high school state titles and a Top-15 finish at The World’s Championship Competition.

“Bringing Cory on board as a member of the coaching staff was an easy decision for me,” stated Co-Lin Cheer sponsor Micah Allen. “Cory loves Co-Lin and cheer plus he also brings a male coaching aspect to the team that I could never bring to the squad.”

“Knowing our goals line up and match for where we want to take the squad is going to make it easy to work with him,” added Allen. “I am really excited to see where the squad goes from here with Cory joining us.”
