Simpson Academy took a beating Friday night, October 13, 2023  at Copiah Academy 40-7.

Quarterback #10 Barrett McKenney. #57 Tristan Freeman

The Cougars had only one touchdown which came at the end of the 4th quarter by Chance Funchess. Parker Pierce (#25) nailed the point after.

#57-Tristan Freeman; #77-Joseph Kilpatrick; #51-Will Smith

Copiah scored 6 points in the 1st quarter; 13 points in the 2nd quarter; 21 points in the 3rd quarter; and 0 points in the 4th quarter.

When Simpson blocked the point after on the first Copiah touchdown, the Cougars were wishing for a repeat of the Simpson VS Lamar game.

Copiah took off and never looked back.  # 6 Jamarius Grayer (Junior) for Copiah was unstoppable.  Small and quick, Grayer didn’t intend for anyone to catch him.

#51-Will Smith; #54-Brody Blakeney

Simpson suffered several injuries in the game.  #24 Braden Duncan who is a staple on offense and defense, did not come back after half time following a calf injuring at the end of the 2nd quarter.  Connor Cone suffered a hip injury during the 4th quarter. Cone plays  strong offense and defense positions.  #50 Devan Drennan was also injured but recovered  beefing up the defense.

Assistant Coaches:  Chaucer Funchess, Jerrod Jordan, Matt Lee, Randy McIntyre, and Terry Underwood.

Trainer Jonthan Pierce was kept busy throughout the game.
