Melinda Sykes Hart considers Magee her hometown after moving here in 1975. She met and married her husband of 31 years Ted Hart (who has deep family roots in Magee…remember Ted’s Swap Shop and the San Motel?) and they raised their daughter Devin Day Hart in Magee. After spending many years as a Radiological Technologist, Melinda followed “God’s Plan” and opened a Deli at the historic Mendenhall Grocery and Grain. She didn’t always know the “plan” God had for her, but she continued cooking and Sassi Southern Catering was formed. Melinda feels her joy in helping others plan their special events has fulfilled many of her dreams. She hopes to share her enthusiasm for creating and tweaking recipes and splaying these food with her readers. As always, Melinda is “Cooking from the Hart.”
