Washington, D.C. – On Friday, Congressman Michael Guest visited with law enforcement agents in El Paso to discuss the troubling state of the border crisis.

“My conversations with our border patrol agents gave a clear picture of the dysfunctional state the border has reached under this Administration’s inaction,” Congressman Guest said. “These officers are overwhelmed, and it’s apparent that the first step that needs to be made is for this Administration to reinstate the policies they removed early into President Biden’s term. I’m working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to introduce legislation that would help secure our border, but we need the Biden Administration to join this mission and enforce the laws that are already on the books.”

Washington, D.C. –Vice Chairman Michael Guest (MS-03) joined Committee on Homeland Security (CHS) Members on a trip to the border to discuss the daily operations of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and Texas State law enforcement partners.

“The Biden Administration has not been truthful about the state of our southern border,” Congressman Guest said in a video released from the border. “I just landed here in El Paso where I will join other Republicans to bring the truth to the American people on the crisis that this president has ignored.”

Congressman Guest also signaled that Homeland Security Committee Republicans will introduce new legislation in the coming weeks in another video from the border.

“Republicans will soon be introducing border legislation that will address our immigration crisis. We can solve this crisis with common sense solutions that prioritize the rule of law. With the Republican Majority, we are leading the charge to fix our broken southern border,” Congressman Guest said in a second video filmed in front of a border wall structure.

Congressman Guest and Congressman Mike Ezell (MS-04) also visited Mississippi National Guardsmen and women stationed at the southwest border to assist the mission of border patrol agents. Photos can be found here.
