Pat Brown, editor of the Magee Courier, was recognized at the Simpson County Board of Supervisors Meeting for his 18 years of service to the Pearl River Basin Development District. Mike Davis, Executive Director, made the presentation.
The Pearl River Basin Development District is scheduled to close in 2018. With a lack of federal funds, grants, and lack of participating agencies, the agency is running out of money.
The agency was created by the Legislature in 1964 to oversee the balanced growth of the water resource potentials of the Pearl River.
D’Lo Water Park and Merit Water Park were affected. The Simpson County Board of Supervisors has taken control of these two water areas.
Hugh Jack Stubbs was recognized posthumously for his 33 years of service. Danny Welch accepted the plaque for the Stubbs family.
