Colt began his scouting journey under the guidance of Scoutmaster Rhuel Dickerson and assistant Patricia Poole as a member of Troop 81 in Mendenhall, MS. During Colts time at the Mississippi School for Math and Science he transferred troops and completed the requirements for Eagle Scout. Colts public service project involved repurposing a piano for use by the MSMS Music Department students.

The multiyear journey to the Eagle Scout Award is one of the most involved and transformative experiences a young person can have as it is designed to have the scout try new things through the merit badge program, develop confidence in the outdoors, practice leadership tactics, and plan, develop and give leadership to a service project that benefits their community.

Colt is a 2024 graduate of MSMS and is currently enrolled In Mississippi State University studying Aerospace Engineering. Colt is the son of Dusty and Suzie Bourn of Magee.
