Coleman, Guyot and Manning Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

Mississippi College seniors Kaleb Coleman and Chris Manning and junior Lawrence Guyot have been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Football Team for Super Region 2, it was announced on Thursday (November 16).
The 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Teams recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Student-athletes must have a 3.30 grade-point-average to be nominated, and the team is selected after a vote by the region’s SID’s.

Academic All-District honorees advance tot he CoSIDA Academic All-American Team ballot, with first- and second-team Academic All-America honorees to be announced in December.

Coleman (Robertsdale, Ala.) was named to the Gulf South Conference All-Academic Team in 2016 and has twice been

named to the GSC FireSeeds Academic Honor Roll. The linebacker finished second on the team with 56 tackles, including a season-high 10 in the season-finale against North Alabama. He tallied 156 tackles over his career, posting a high of 66 in his freshman season (2014).

Guyot (Bartlett, Tenn.) is on the Academic All-District Team for the second straight year, also earning a GSC All-Academic Team nod in 2016. The offensive lineman has been named to the GSC FireSeeds Academic Honor Roll in each of his first two seasons with the Choctaws. Guyot led the MC offensive line, grading out at 95% on the season, and paced the squad with nearly five knockdown blocks per game.

Manning (Section, Ala.) earns his second straight appearance on the Academic All-District Team, also landing on the GSC FireSeeds Academic Honor Roll three times. The defensive back led the Choctaws with 58 tackles, closing out his four-year career as a starter with 199 stops and nine interceptions. Manning also was the GSC’s only nominee to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team for his efforts in the community.

Coleman has posted a 3.89 grade-point-average in Kinesiology, while Guyot has a 3.91 GPA in Kinesiology and Manning has recorded a 3.37 mark in Psychology.
