MENDENHALL, Mississippi – Copiah-Lincoln Community College’s Workforce Education is offering six programs in Fall 2021 at the Simpson County Center. Programs include commercial truck driving, industrial welding training, emergency medical technician -basic, certified nursing assistant training, forklift operator authorization training and OSHA 30-hour general industry course.

Commercial Truck Driving will begin Monday, August 16, and end September 13, 2021, with classes scheduled to meet Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. The registration deadline is Monday, August 9, and the registration fee is $250 (non-refundable). The cost of the program is $2,960 and is due before class starts.

Participants must have a valid CDL permit and pass the Mississippi Department of Transportation physical and drug screening prior to entering the class. Additionally, participants must be 18 years of age or older and have a minimum score of Bronze on the WorkKeys Assessment. Call 601.849.0119 to schedule an appointment. Industrial Welding Training will be offered August 16, 2021, and continue through June 15, 2022. Classes will meet Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5-9 p.m. at the Simpson County Center Welding Lab.

Participants must be 18 years of age or older, bring a copy of their driver’s license and have a minimum score of Bronze on the WorkKeys Assessment. Call (601) 849.0124 to schedule an appointment. The registration deadline is August 7, and the registration fee is $250 (applies to the program cost and is non-refundable). Participants must have steel-toed shoes and purchase approximately $280 in supplies. The cost of the program is $995. Applications may be downloaded and printed from our website https://workforce.colin.edu/welding.

Emergency Medical Technician – Basic will be offered beginning September 2 and continue through December 2, 2021. Classes will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, AND an occasional Saturday from 5:30-9:30 p.m. at the Simpson County Center. College Credit is not available for this program. The registration deadline is August 26 and the registration fee is $250 (non-refundable). The cost of the program is $600.

Participants must be 18 years of age or older, have the ability to read and write, have their High School Graduate/GED equivalent, TB Skin Test (One Step), be physically fit per physical exam by a physician, Hepatitis B vaccination started prior to the clinical or ambulance run portion of the class, and a minimum score of 16 on the ACT OR Silver on the WorkKeys Assessment (Call 601.849.0124 to schedule).

Certified Nursing Assistant Training will be offered September 7 through November 30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-10 p.m. at the Simpson County Center. The registration fee is $100 (non-refundable) and the cost of the program is $710.

Participants must be 18 years of age or older and have a Bronze level on the ACT WorkKeys Assessment Please schedule a testing date and take the assessment prior to the class registration deadline of September 2. (Call 601.849.0124 to schedule).

Applications may be downloaded and printed from the Co-Lin website at https://workforce.colin.edu/cna or pick up from the Simpson County Center Admissions Office. Participants must pass a background check to complete the required practice at the clinical facility. Background checks will be scheduled and announced.

Forklift Operator Authorization Training will be offered on Friday, September 24, from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Simpson County Center. This session includes a lecture and hands-on learning. After successful completion, participants will receive a forklift certificate and Forklift Authorization Card. The registration deadline is Friday, September 17, at 4:30 p.m. and the cost of the class is $40. Registration can be completed online at https://workforce.colin.edu/simpson-center-training

OSHA 30 HR General Industry Course will be offered Monday, November 8 through Friday November 12 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Simpson County Center. This training will provide a broad awareness of recognizing and preventing hazards and compliance issues at general industry work sites. Upon successful completion, the student will receive an OSHA Safety and Health 30 Hour Course Completion Card. Participants must attend all classes to be eligible for the course completion card. The registration deadline is November 4, at 4:30 p.m. and the cost is $150. Registration can be completed online at https://workforce.colin.edu/simpson-center-training

Registration is taken on a first come, first-served basis and is not complete without payment. Per the policies of the Mississippi Community College Board Division of Workforce, Career & Technical Education class sizes are subject to minimum and/or maximum participant numbers. Co-Lin reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or reschedule a class due to, but not limited to, inadequate enrollment. Note that class times, locations, and fees are subject to change. The Workforce Center will make all reasonable attempts to notify students of class cancellations or changes.
