Copiah-Lincoln Community College sophomores Regan Neely of Braxton and Sarah Claire Armstrong of Gallman have been named Lyceum Scholars at the University of Mississippi for the fall of 2015. The Lyceum Scholarship is valued at full tuition for the 2015-2016 year at $7,344.00.
In addition to Lyceum Scholarship both Neely and Armstrong were named to the Chancellors Leadership Class and will be receiving a Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship and Community College Academic Excellence award as well, totaling over $16,344 in scholarships for their last two years at Ole Miss. The CLC consist of the top 30 students who applied for scholarships at University of Mississippi for the 2015 class and will receive an extra $1,000 scholarship for the 2015 year. The course will consist of guest speakers, group discussions, leadership activities, and exercises focused on social responsibility and civic duty, critical thinking, self-awareness, and the role of leadership at the University of Mississippi and beyond.
Both Neely and Armstrong were two of the fifteen Lyceum scholars awarded. These students were selected out of the over 400 community college students from around the country applied for scholarships this year. Criteria for the award included community college transfer students with at least a 3.0 transfer grade point average on at least 48 transferable credit hours and an exemplary record of leadership and service.
“We are excited for both Regan and Sarah Claire to receive this award, it is a testament to their hard work inside and outside of the classroom at Co-Lin over the past two years that they were selected for such an honor,” said Jason McCormick, University of Mississippi Regional Admissions Counselor.
