WESSON – Copiah-Lincoln Community College sophomore Colton Fuqua of Houlka has been named a prestigious Lyceum Scholar Award recipient by the University of Mississippi. The Lyceum Scholarship will cover the cost of full-time tuition at Ole Miss for two years, totaling over $18,000. Only community college transfer students who have an exemplary record of leadership and service and at least a 3.0 GPA are eligible to apply for the scholarship. The application process for Lyceum is extremely competitive, and only 15 students are selected from across the state.

“Receiving the Lyceum scholarship was a complete shock but a true honor that I am humbled to receive,” said Fuqua. “My time at Co-Lin has allowed me to grow as a person and student.”

Fuqua has been heavily involved on campus during his two years at Co-Lin. He serves as Trailblazer President, Phi Theta Kappa President, Student Government Association Treasurer, and is a member of Mu Alpha Theta, the Baptist Student Union, Co-Lin’s Honors College, and the Counsel of Presidents. An exercise science/kinesiology major, Fuqua has also served as a student athletic trainer and a member of the men’s tennis team.

“Even though I’m three hours away from home, I’ve been a part of the Co-Lin family since day one,” Fuqua continued. “The opportunities to get involved are endless and my instructors have prepared me well for my journey at Ole Miss.”
