The Simpson County Center Phi Theta Kappa chapter held its Fall Induction Ceremony on Thursday, September 1st at 2:00 pm in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Parker Academic Building. Inductees and their guests were honored at a reception immediately following the ceremony. Beta Xi Psi along with its advisors welcomed sixteen new members to their chapter. The new members include: Abigail Algee (Florence), Courtney Ballenger (Magee), Alexis Bishop (Magee), Jennifer Bishop (Magee), Allie Brister (Magee), Christopher Booth (Mendenhall), Jaylea Douglas (Magee), Glenda Durr (Magee), Allyson Hodges (Magee), JoAnna Holmes (Brandon), Dedra Johnson (Prentiss), Joseph Johnston (Mendenhall), Molly Kimbrough (Mt. Olive), Lauren Grantham (Magee), Mitchell Maddox (Magee), and Carley May (Magee).
The purpose of Beta Xi Psi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Copiah-Lincoln Community College Simpson County Center shall be the promotion of scholarship, the development of leadership and service and the cultivation of fellowship among qualified students of this college. This prestigious organization known as Phi Theta Kappa is the official honor society for two-year colleges and has been since 1929. It currently has over 2.5 million member from across the world. In order to be invited to join, students must achieve a 3.5 grade point average with no less than 12 academic hours.
