Read Across America Day was a fun day of celebrating reading at Mendenhall Elementary School. The Co-Lin Trailblazers and a couple teachers spent the beginning of the day reading to several classes at the school. The students loved the interaction with these college students, but the Co-Lin wolf mascot was also a big hit! Thanks to Mrs. Anika Floyd for bringing these students to share their love for reading.
Hope Adams, McKenzie Chestnut, Dayra Gutierrez, & Alisha Magee (front row L to R) Baylea Brown, Mr. Toby Graves (teacher), Wolf, Mrs. Tracey Crawford (librarian), and Greta Graves (back row L to R)
Students in Dr. Shannon Smith’s class were having an enlightning visit with the Co-Lin Wolf! Many hugs and high-fives were shared before story time even began. Mrs. Kimberly Layton from Co-Lin took many wonderful photographs for us!
Mr. Toby Graves entertained Mrs. Coleman’s 2nd grade class while reading the book, I Can Lick 30 Tigers by Dr. Seuss.
Alisha Magee and McKenzie Chestnut read a couple of Dr. Seuss favorites to Mrs. Nickerson’s 1st grade class.
Baylea Brown definitely had the students on the edge of their seats with The Cat in the Hat! Second grade enjoyed her visit.
Dayra Gutierrez and Hope Adams were all smiles after reading to a couple of classes at Mendenhall Elementary. Mrs. Tracey Crawford enjoyed their visit as much as the students.
Daniel Horn was having the “best day ever” when he met the Co-Lin mascot, Wolf, a.k.a. Hayden Wadlington.
The Wolf was the most popular thing on campus on Read Across America Day at Mendenhall Elementary,! Thanks to Hayden Wadlington for volunteering today.
