Co-Lin Inaugural CDL class completes; upcoming dates set
WESSON – Copiah-Lincoln Community College Workforce Education Department facilitated Commercial Truck Driving (CDL) training at the Simpson County Center in September under the instruction of Dwight Brown. In five weeks, students completed theory and road-time requirements in preparation for their road test which is included in the cost of the class.
“This training is a tremendous opportunity for individuals in our area to learn the skills they need to enter the high demand field of transportation,” said Vice President of Co-Lin’s Simpson County Center Dr. Anika Floyd. “In addition, it allows the college to pursue meeting the workforce needs of industry in our region. We look forward to building a thriving commercial truck driving school to support the industry on MS Hwy 49 and beyond.”
Enrollment is now open for the upcoming CDL session which starts on November 7. Training alternates between the Simpson County Center in Mendenhall and at the main campus in Wesson. The next Wesson Campus session is slated to begin January 9, 2023, with a registration deadline of December 14. Additional information about registration is available at www.colin.edu/workforcecdl or by calling 601.643.8707. Enrollees must have obtained their CDL permit prior to the class start.
