Co-Lin Homecoming set for Oct. 28

Copiah-Lincoln Community College is planning Homecoming events for Friday and Saturday, Oct. 27-28. Alumni, friends and students are welcomed to the Wesson campus to re-connect, enjoy activities, and to see the newly completed pedestrian corridor.

Homecoming weekend will kick off with the annual president’s reception on Friday evening at 5 p.m. at the home of Dr. Ronnie and Rosie Nettles. The reception will honor local elected officials from the Co-Lin district. Former Colettes will have a reunion in the Thames Center at 6:30 p.m. For more information, contact the alumni office at 601-643-8498.

Saturday morning events will begin with the annual Big Wolf 5K at 7:00 at Stone Stadium followed by the Homecoming Golf Tournament at 8:00. For information on participating in or sponsoring the 5K, contact Leigh Easterling at 601-643-8435 or Dr. Stephanie Duguid at 601-643-8341. A portion of the proceeds this year will benefit the men’s basketball team. For more information on the golf tournament, contact Ronny Ross at (601) 643-8379. Proceeds benefit the Wolfpack Golf Team.

The Athletic Alumni Association will hold their annual meeting and Hall of Fame induction on Saturday at 9:00 in Rea Auditorium. The Band and Colette Alumni Chapter will hold their Hall of Fame induction and present the Stanley Stewart Outstanding Young Alumni award during their annual meeting at 9:30 in the Taylor Chapel. Band and Colette history books will be on sale for half price at $25 during Homecoming. Complimentary books will be presented to individuals who pay lifetime membership dues into the Band and Colette Alumni Chapter.

The college class of 1967 will meet on Saturday at the alumni luncheon and later at Oswalt Library following the luncheon at 1:00. dining room. All reunion groups will be recognized at the alumni luncheon, and the college class of 1967 will be presented with golden anniversary pins.

The High School Class of 1952/College Class of ’54 will sit together at the luncheon and will meet in the Mutton building afterward. A table will be reserved at the luncheon and at the tailgate party for all 1970s high school and college graduates. If you graduated from the agricultural high school or the college at any time in the 1970s decade, you are encouraged to attend.

Former Colettes will also meet under the tents at the tailgate party and will perform with the band. The 1965-1957 football team will also meet at the tailgate party. Other classes that end in ‘7 are encouraged to plan reunions. To help plan a reunion for your class or group, contact the alumni office at 601-643-8498.

The annual Alumni Association’s awards luncheon will be held in the Henley Cafeteria at 11:00 and the tailgate party begins at 12:30 near center of campus and the new pedestrian corridor. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased ahead of time at the Alumni Office, at morning registration in Rea Auditorium, or at the cafeteria prior to the event. Pre-game activities begin in Stone Stadium at 2:30 followed by a 3:00 game between Co-Lin and Pearl River Community College.
