Library supporters from the county as well as local elected officials were in attendance. The dinner meal was served by youth library volunteers.
Frances Meadows, Magee Library, and Mara Polk, Director of CMRLS, welcomed those present.
Mendenhall Librarian, Rhoda Benton recognized city and county officials as well as members of the Friends of the Library in attendance. Youth Services librarian at the Magee Library Matt Pudas gave the invocation and a presentation on what goes on at the library everyday.
Carolyn Haines, author of the Bones Series, was the guest speaker. “The library was the answers for me, “ stated Mrs. Haines. She explained how that librarians love books but they also love people. “The library is the gateway to the city…so much is offered to so many for so little cost,” said Haines.
Kathie Jo Ward, of the Harrisville Library, gave the closing.
(Reminder: Library cards may be replaced this week only (April 8-12th) for $1. If you have lost your card or need to join the library…this is the week to do so!)
