Clyde Woodruff, Jr., 73, of Ellisville, Mississippi, died Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He was born Friday, October 13, 1944 in Yazoo City, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Ellisville Funeral Home in Ellisville, Mississippi. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Ellisville Funeral Home and the Burial will follow in Ellisville City Cemetery. Dr. Frankie Clark will officiate. Ellisville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (601) 477-3797

He earned a Bachelors degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Masters degree from the University of Alabama. (Roll Tide!)

Clyde worked for the MS Dept. of Education and the MS Dept. of Mental Health for thirty-three years and served as Director of Boswell Regional Center in Magee for four and half years and Ellisville State School for sixteen years. In 2004, the administration building at Ellisville State School was renamed in his honor. During his career, he was a member of the MS Chapter of American Association of Mental Retardation. For his commitment and contributions to Mississippians with mental retardation, he was awarded the Paul D. Cotton Leadership Award in 1995, Service and Dedication Award, and Professional of the Year in 1998.

He was a faithful member of Ellisville First Baptist Church where he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a member of Ellisville Rotary Club and served as president from 1987 to 1988 and 2002 to 2003.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde Woodruff, Sr. and Zoe Woodruff of Yazoo City, MS.

Survivors include wife of 52 years, Patricia Woodruff, Clyde Dabbs Woodruff (Mary) (Son), Dr. Mary Patrice Dukes (Darren) (Daughter), Amanda Leigh Woodruff (Daughter), Mary Virginia Woodruff (Granddaughter), Rebecca Leigh Woodruff (Granddaughter), Laura Dabbs Woodruff (Granddaughter), Daniel Walker Dukes (Grandson), Mary Ann Dukes (Granddaughter), Mark Andrew Dukes (Grandson), Kenneth A. Woodruff (Marie) (Brother), Sarah Woodruff Lloyd (Sister), Betsy Porter (Harl) (Sister-in-law), Girly Hull (Phil) (Sister-in-law).

Pallbearers will be Jerry Wansley, Allen Kelly, Jimmy West, Richard Follis, Nolan Graves, Robert Hull, John Ford, and Willie Jefferson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mary Virginia Woodruff, Rebecca Leigh Woodruff, Laura Dabbs Woodruff, Daniel Walker Dukes, Mary Ann Dukes, and Mark Andrew Dukes.
