Climmis Sullivan Byars, 77, of Magee, Mississippi, passed away at her home on December 15, 2017.
Climmis was born on October 24, 1940, to Glaston and Climmie Sullivan. She attended high school at Mize Attendance Center. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in English from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Masters of Education degree from William Carey College. She taught school in the Simpson County School District and at Copiah Lincoln Community College and was loved by her students. Climmis was a member of First Baptist Church of Magee where she served as a beloved Sunday school teacher for many years and also served on various committees. She was a member of the First Baptist Church Friendship Sunday School class, Thomas Lacey Chapter of the Colonial Dames of the Seventeenth Century, Books-n-Lunch Book Club, Magee Woman’s Club, and the Alpha Chi chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. She chartered the Red Hat Chicks Society of Magee. She enjoyed reading, attending plays, and spending time with her family.
Climmis is preceded in death by her parents, Glaston and Climmie Sullivan; her husband, Larry Joe Byars, Sr; and her son, Larry Joe Byars, Jr.
Climmis is survived by her daughter Beverly Byars (Paul) Padgett of Hattiesburg; daughter Beth Byars Hollingsworth of Magee; sister Barbara Magee of Magee; and sister Julia Styron of Magee.  She is also survived by grandchildren Kelly (Mitchell) Stringer of Madison; Trey Hollingsworth of Magee; Kacey (Chad) Thomas of Natchez; Jared Padgett of Columbus; Jacob Padgett of Hattiesburg; Carsyn (Davin) Burch of Petal; great-grandchildren Byars Hollingsworth, Benji Thomas, Elizabeth Stringer, and Harmon Stringer; and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2017, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Magee, Mississippi. Services are to follow visitation. Interment will be in Sharon Cemetery.
Tutor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
