Cleta D. Overby, 78 of White Oak, Mississippi passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at the Castlewood Senior Living Care in Brandon, Mississippi. She was born Tuesday, January 25, 1944 in Smith County, Mississippi.

   Visitation will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee, Mississippi. A short visitation will be held on Saturday, October 01, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. until service time at White Oak Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 01, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at White Oak Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Rock Bluff Baptist Church Cemetery in Morton, Mississippi. Dr. Jimmy Dukes, Bro. Tim Robertson, and Bro. Donnie Stuart will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031.

 Cleta was a dedicated wife, mom, grandmother, sister, and friend who lived her life to serve her Lord and others. She was a member of White Oak Baptist Church where she served for over fifty years as nursery director, choir member and soloist, pianist, children’s choir leader, Sunday school teacher, kitchen committee, VBS leader, and any other place there was a need. Cleta also invested her time in the youth of the White Oak community by serving as a 4-H leader for ten years. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, walking, gardening, and serving her family and others in multiple ways. Her greatest passion was taking care of and loving on many children through the years.

  Cleta graduated from White Oak High School in 1961 as valedictorian of her class. She continued her education in business technical school where she finished in the top of her class. For many years, she was a stay-at-home mom and helped work on the family farm. As her children grew older, she started her career working in office administration in multiple medical clinics in Smith County. In 1989, Cleta started working for MEA Medical Clinics in office administration. She retired from the company in 2010 after twenty-one years of service.

  She was preceded in death by her parents, Vardaman and Jewel Dukes; sister, Nelner Robertson; great grandchild, Mitchell Overby.

    Survivors include her husband, Jim  Overby;  sons, Duane  Overby  (Sherry) and Scott  Overby  (Shelly);  daughter, Kim  Waddell (David);  grandchildren, Shane  Overby, Lexi  Whitehead  (Braden), Brylan  Overby  (Paige), Bryce  Overby, Will  Waddell, Drew  Waddell and Claire  Waddell;  brother, WA  Dukes  (Mary Ann);  great grandchildren, Hudson  Overby, Stetson  Overby and Beckett  Whitehead.

    Pallbearers will be Shane Overby, Brylan Overby, Bryce Overby, Braden Whitehead, Will Waddell, Gregory Robertson, and Hudson Overby.

 The family would like to extend a special thank you to Castlewoods Place Memory Care facility for the special loving care provided for Cleta over the past three years.
