Magee High School Class of 1968 celebrated their 50th Class Reunion Saturday night, May 26th. The small in number but dear friends gathered at Jose’s to enjoy a meal and program.  George Puckett, Student Body President, spearheaded the reunion. Cinda Wolf and Dot Nichols decorated the room with school colors (red and gray) as well as memorabilia. A time of fellowship and figuring out who was who took place prior to the meal. Robert Vinson led the classmates and spouses in prayer. George Puckett presented an updated contact list.

Larry Cockrell, who provided the beautiful flower arrangement, read the names of the 18 classmates who are deceased. Classmates shared memories of the deceased.

Sammy Scoggin gave a moving tribute to the 5 men from Simpson County who died during the Vietnam conflict.  Sammy is a born again Christian who freely shares his faith with others.  His talk was straight from the heart and brought tears to my eyes as I listened to the stories behind the 5 men who died.  Sammy asked that we especially remember these families and all families who have lost love ones during the Memorial Day weekend. The class decided to meet again in five years and not wait ten years. (We are not getting any younger!)

Following the meal, everyone gathered at Sue Honea’s home for an after party complete with a DJ featuring 60’s music. Gwen Shows Stewart and her sister Annie along with Jolyn McNair Cooke and Steve Pruitt, Magee High School graduates, attended the party.
