CITY OF MAGEE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR A HANDS-ON HERO IN FACILITY CARE

Magee, MS — The City of Magee is currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Facilities Technician to join its Facilities Management team. Reporting directly to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen, this essential role helps keep the city’s infrastructure safe, functional, and inviting daily.

Whether it’s fixing a faulty lock, inspecting HVAC systems, clearing a clogged drain, or preparing spaces for important meetings, the Facilities Technician is at the heart of daily operations. From lush outdoor grounds to intricate indoor systems, this technician wears many hats—groundskeeper, electrician, safety inspector, and emergency responder.

“Facilities technicians are the invisible hands that keep our city running smoothly,” said a city official. “We’re looking for someone who’s not afraid to get their hands dirty, who takes pride in their work, and who understands that safety, cleanliness, and functionality are top priorities.”

Among the technician’s many duties:

  • Performing preventive building maintenance for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.

  • Troubleshooting and repairing issues with windows, doors, and locks.

  • Ensuring grounds maintenance, including landscaping, trash disposal, and parking lot upkeep.

  • Maintaining inventory of tools and supplies.

  • Responding quickly to emergencies like leaks, flooding, and power outages.

  • Coordinating with vendors and contractors to get the job done right—and on time.

  • Assisting with event support, setting up AV equipment and furniture.

  • Monitoring systems for energy efficiency and security.

Ideal candidates will bring a certification in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing. Physical requirements include the ability to lift equipment  50 LBS, frequent kneeling and squatting, and working in all weather conditions.

If you can handle power tools with precision, solve problems with calm under pressure, and take pride in keeping your community in tip-top shape, Magee wants to hear from you.
