Through the hard work of Kara Kimbrough, the city of Magee is receiving a $25,000 Canadian National Railroad Grant. “City of Magee Highways, Byways, & Railway Buffered Beautification Project” is the name of the grant.
The budgeted items for the grant are: 100 trees, Ground cover, Self-watering hanging flower baskets, flowering plans & scrubs, certified arborist to select plants, and billable services of city workers.
The requirements that must be met to receive the grant are: A kick-off party must be held to inform the public of the grand which CN Railroad official will attend, someone will have to oversee the project and provide detailed reports to CN Railroad that include receipts, date of work and end results.
Mayor Berry praised Kara for obtaining two grants for the city at a total of $50,000. Kara stated that there are many more grants available for application.
