City Hall Will Be Closed For President’s Day

Mayor Dale Berry announced City Hall will be closed Monday, February 15, 2021 in observance of President’s Day!

Garbage collection will run a day behind the week of the 14th due to the holiday.

The board approved the name of McNulty Place Street for the new construction in the subdivision by Spring Lake.  Originally, Dr. Tommy Blackledge owned the area which is included in the City Limits.

The city is in search of a new home for the radio towers. A solution was given by Charlie Valdie. The tower would be located behind Tractor Supply and the police would be able to have access to the tower for their equipment. The location would be a savings to the police funds. Mayor Berry is searching for grant money to help with the purchase.

A parade permit was given for a Drive Thru Baby Shower to be held Sunday, April 18, 2021 at the corner of Main Street and Priority One Bank.

Hugh Dillmore advised the board,  graffiti was found on the bridge entering Spring Lake at the bottom of the bridge. The board granted approval for the bridge to be painted. Dillmore expressed trash issues in town are not getting any better. The city has been working hard to clean the streets and as soon as trash is removed, citizens continue to litter the streets.

The Maintenance Department is working on replacing flower beds located behind City Hall and the Police Station.

At the time of board meeting,  the city was dealing with one less garbage truck due to one being out of commission for repairs.

The board approved to hire Cody Blakeney as a part-time officer for the police department.

City of Magee baseball and softball registration is still taking place. Anyone wanting to play ball and has not signed up needs to call City Hall.

With no further business meeting was recessed until February 16, 2021.
