On an overcast Friday afternoon,  the area around the Smith County Courthouse was filed with friends and family of Matt Sullivan and Chris Hennis.  The March 5, 2021 Swearing in ceremony was conducted by Supreme Court Justice Michael Randolph.

Jonas Bowen, Assistance District Attorney 13th Judicial District and son of the late Judge Eddie Bowen, introduced Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves.

Judge Stanley Sorey introduced Chief Justice Michale Randolph.  Judge Randolph gave the oath of office to both Judge Sullivan and District Attorney Chris Hennis.

The Bible was held by Judge Sullivan’s son, R. C.  His wife Kayla stood by his side during the oath. 

District Attorney Chris Hennis’ wife held the Bible for his swearing in.

Robert Sullivan, Sr., Attorney at Law in Laurel and former District Attorney of Jones County plus a family member, presented the Judge’s Robe.

Smith County Circuit Clerk Anthony Grayson entertained the crowd with “law” stories.

Senator Juan Barnett gave the closing remarks and prayer.
