Cintas Helps Clean Southern Miss Hattiesburg Campus

The Cintas management in training program came to The University of Southern Mississippi Hattiesburg campus Wednesday, Jan. 27, and attendees spent part of their visit picking up trash and litter.

“Researchers have found that over 18 percent of all littered items end up in our streams and waterways. Our Hattiesburg campus sits within two watersheds that ultimately drain into the Gulf of Mexico,” said Michelle Shinall, Assistant Director of Marketing & Campus Relations for the Physical Plant. “So in a short amount of time, the Cintas team not only helped keep our campus clean and beautiful, but they also helped protect our environment, and for that we are truly thankful.”

Cintas had been utilizing Scianna Hall in the College of Business at for management training courses earlier this week. Faculty, staff and students were invited to several sessions. Additionally, many of the managers in training are Southern Miss graduates.

“We wanted to give something back to Southern Miss before we left and headed back to the office,” said Jordan Smalley, 2014 College of Business graduate and currently in the Cintas management in training program.

“While I was a student, I went to programs such as Experiencing Business Casual and mock interviews, and that is where I met and (networked) with Cintas.” Smalley recently accepted a promotion to become a SAP trainer. His new position will begin in June.

“We enjoy routinely working with Cintas and sending great students their way. We provide numerous opportunities throughout the semester for students to learn about the business world and network with potential employers,” said Tonya McGee, Career Services Marketing Specialist.
