The Simpson County School Board recognized Christian Allen for his accomplishments as a football player for the Mendenhall Tigers during their regular scheduled board meeting Thursday, December 13, 2018. The board awarded Christian with a plaque for receiving Mr. Football for 4A, All State 4A, and Offensive MVP All Region for 4A.

Dale Shoots and Linda Curlee received plaques for their years of service with Simpson County School Board. Sammy Welch was also recognized but was unable to attend  the meeting.

Investigator Leon Wedgeworth with the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office came before the board to report on findings after an investigation into the noose situation at Mendenhall Junior High. Mr. Wedgeworth stated after the investigation they found no wrongdoing. The ropes had been hanging for some time and were old. There appears to be no safety issues at this time.

The board approved to accept a donation from St. Peters Church for Mendenhall High School unpaid meal balances.

The following travel was approved: Joanna Maddox to attend Connect – A Heartland Training Conference, April 2-4, 2018 in Austin, TX. The trip is paid for with federal funds.

Crystal Brewer to attend School Leadership Network, January 21-23, 2019 in Riverside, CA. All expenses are paid by Riverside Unified School District.

Monroe Allen and Reddy Dyess were granted permission to attend MS Athletic Administrator’s Athletic Funds. Paid for with Athletic Funds.

Simpson Central Beta students and sponsors were given permission to attend Junior Beta Convention March 17-19, 2019 in Biloxi, MS. The trip is paid with fund raisers and parents.

Magee Beta Club and sponsor requested permission to attend Senior Beta Student convention, February 17-19, 2019 in Biloxi, MS.  The trip is paid  by students.

Mark Hudson and Mendenhall High School students were given permission to travel to Orlando, FL to perform at Disney World, March 8-12, 2019. Students and band boosters pay for trip.

The board approved the presentation by Misty Hannah to award scholarship for students who qualify for dual credit courses at Magee and Mendenhall High School. Scholarship deadline is Friday December 21, 2018. Students can see counselor for more information, the  district web site, or MageeNews.com.

Donald Paige resignation at Mendenhall High School as a Bus driver was approved effective 11/13/2018. Jasmine James-Baxter resignation at Magee Elementary as an instructional Assistant effective 12/21/2018 was approved. Derrick Jenkins was approved with Emergency License in Social Studies. Donald Paige was approved as bus driver for SPED Jackson Route. Mary Jones was approved as a bus driver at Magee High school. Leartis Williams was approved as a bus driver at Mendenhall High School. Willard George was approved as a Cafeteria Worker at Simpson Central.
