He retired at age 58 after 36 years with Shell.  For the last 40 years of his life, he resided with his family in Kingwood, Texas.  Charles enjoyed spending time with family, playing golf and tennis, fishing at his house on Carancahua Bay, hunting with family and friends at Miller Trail, and volunteering as a coach with the Kingwood Forest Cove Baseball Association.  Last August, Charles and Jean celebrated 67 wonderful  years of marriage.

He is survived by his wife Jean and his children, Brenda and her husband Clay Bowman, and Cynthia and her husband Jason Hillman, grandchildren Alex Bowman and his wife Valerie, Matthew Bowman, Ryan Mize, Reid Hillman, and great granddaughter Vivian Bowman.  He is also survived by his sister Johnnie Sue Blackledge and her family, sister-in-law Johnnell McAlpin, as well as nephews, nieces, and cousins.

We will always remember his wit, love of singing and ability to make everyone laugh. We will love and honor him forever.

Our family warmly welcomes friends to visitation on Saturday, March 7, from 10am – 11:30am at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 302 8th Ave SW, Magee, MS, with memorial services immediately following.  Interment will be at Goodwater Cemetery followed by lunch at Goodwater Baptist Church, Magee, MS. We would especially like to thank Sandra and David Stewart and Goodwater Church members for helping with arrangements.
