Mississippi Restaurateur dies at age 87.Born on February 19, 1930, Charles Fred Morgan, Jr. was the oldest son of L’ Marie and Fred Morgan, Sr.
Fred grew up in Mendenhall attending high school and playing on the football team. He finished the last 18 months of high school at Gulf Coast Military Academy. He went to Ole Miss where he played football and was a Kappa Sigma Fraternity member. Rebel Football became his lifelong passion.
In 1951 he married Nattilie Marcelle Wiggins and on July 1 5th they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. They grew up together and in high school were in the case of “A Poor Married Man” and a few years later began dating.

He served our country by joining the U.S. Navy during the Korean War conflict and sailed around the world in 1953-1954 seeing many places and fueling his lifelong passion for travel.
His career included Lederle Pharmaceutical sales, Morrison’s Food Service training, a Coldwell Banker Realtor and Civil Service. He was a member of GCMA Alumni Association, University of Mississippi Alumni Association, Mendenhall Chamber of Commerce and Mississippi Restaurant Association.
His dream was to continue the family restaurant business, The Revolving Tables Restaurant in Mendenhall, MS. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fred Morgan Jr. became the third generation of the family to carry on owning and managing the Revolving Tables at the Mendenhall Hotel where he grew up. It opened in 1915 and was purchased by his parents in 1948. Fred and Nattilie purchased the restaurant in 1998 serving many home cooked meals. The restaurant was featured many times in newspapers and magazines including Southern Living Magazine as well as being featured on the CBS Good Morning show.
He had many strengths and among his greatest was his devotion to his wife. After her stroke and heart attack in 2014, he provided home health care for several years.
He loved hunting, fishing, and traveling but his greatest joy was cheering on the Rebels and enjoying his family and friends in Mendenhall, Ole Miss, and from coast to coast.
He is survived by his wife, Nattilie, his daughter, Liz and husband Steve Smith of Texas, daughter, Melinda and husband David Carruth of Florida, son, Charles Fred Morgan Ill of Illinois; grandchildren, Chance and Forrest Morgan, brother and sister-in-law Gerald and Bette Morgan of Texas and many nieces, nephews, cousins and great friends.
Services will be held at Tutor Funeral Home Chapel in Mendenhall, MS on Sunday, August 13th at 3:00 p.m. with visitation for friends and family at 2:00 p.m.
