Charles E. Sorey, Sr.
(August 3, 1923 – May 2, 2022)

Charles E. Sorey, Sr., 98 of Harrisville, Mississippi passed away from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Monday, May 02, 2022, at Simpson General Hospital in Mendenhall, Mississippi. He was born Friday, August 3, 1923, in Rayville, Louisiana.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery in Mendenhall, Mississippi.  Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall is in charge of arrangements. 601-847-4401

Mr. Sorey was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Mendenhall, Mississippi.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, and friend.  He served our country in the United States Navy during WWII for four years.  He played on the Naval baseball team in the South Pacific War Zone.  He will be greatly missed by all of his loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Andrew Sorey; mother, Nora Harris Sorey; and four sisters, Myrtle Sorey Nelson, Clara Sorey McKnight, Maggie Sorey Beall and Edith Sorey McGowen.

Survivors include his loving wife of twenty-four years, Marilyn Rowell Sorey of Harrisville, MS; three sons, Eddy Sorey (Gretta) of Jackson, MS, Lenny Sorey (Karen) of Daphne, AL and Terry Sorey (Betty) of Madison, MS; fifteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Connor Sorey, Austin Sorey, James Sorey, Sergio Pichardo, and Drew Beasley.
