Highway 49 at Magee has been a buzz of construction activity for several months. Presently, MDOT is constructing a barrier that will prevent crossing from Goodwater Road to Goodwater Road! Traffic will be allowed to turn but just not cross both lanes of highway. The crossing is an inconvenience to many, but a safety factor for more. The Goldwater Crossing has been the scene of numerous wrecks. With the installation of the new red light and Loves, traffic is even heavier in that area.
At this time, travel in this area with extreme caution. Traffic from the new Magee Elementary will be affected by this barrier. Plan ahead routes to and from the school.
The media crossing just before the bridge has been closed. Again, the decision to close this crossing was in the safety of drivers.
Changes are always happening on Highway 49 so beware! Proceed with Caution.
