Change can be a good thing. Change can be a difficult thing. One thing for sure, change is always coming!

At First Baptist Church Magee we are excited about our new pastor, Brother Jim Taylor. Brother Jim will take over the pulpit, Sunday, January 7th.

Sunday morning as I sat in church listening to Brother Bill Hardin our interim preacher, I thought about the changes that are coming our way. I thought about the changes we as a church need to make as we prepare to welcome Brother Jim. Often, I just want others to make changes. Bill Hardin has done an excellent job in leading our church in preparation for a new pastor. He told us what is expected of us! That’s right! I’ve got to be willing to adjust and change…sometimes that is hard…but right now, I’m excited about the “change that is coming!”

Fly our Country’s Flag!

One change I am sad about is the direction our church and many area churches are taking following the shootings in our country this past year. In order to tighten security and ensure a safe environment during worship service, our church will start limiting incoming traffic to the church during worship service . All Entry doors into the church will be locked at 10:00 AM sharp! (Hope you’re not late!). The only doors that will remain unlocked with be the sanctuary doors and these doors will be manned at all times. (Oh mercy, I park in the back…I can’t be late). Doors can be exited at any time. This new change applies to Sunday morning and night services.

I agree with the security change our church is making. I just hate we as a society have come to the place we have to lock the church doors! But, I appreciate the deacons of our church for their forward thinking.

Change is coming…2018 is looking us in the face. Happy New Year to all!
