As the school holiday dismissal was around the corner and the Christmas decorations were being hung around town. Chandler Pittman had his holiday break planned out! Being a student athlete keeps Chandler busy as well as the entire family. It began when Chandler was selected to the Team Mississippi FBU Football Team after attending several tryouts. FBU is a nationwide event that was founded on the belief that in the game of football, “technique plus talent beats talent alone. More than 40,000 athletes have learned from FBU’s elite facility of NFL-experienced coaches and players.” Chandler and his family traveled to Atlanta, Ga. on December 1st -3rd to play in the FBU National Championship game. He played two games and had three interceptions, a fumble recovery and several big catches! He was coached and selected by Marcus Dent, Dakota Gooden and Shaun Holiday along with other assistants. This was a great experience says DeWayne, Chandler’s Dad. “He loves sports and I will support him in every way.” The next venture was The 1st Annual Mississippi Prospects All State Gridiron Classic which was held at The University of Southern Mississippi on December 30th-31st. This event was founded by Eli Ouder of Picayune, MS. He had a vision to discover and promote the best youth football talented kids grades 3rd-8th. Chandler had around 60+yards in the one game played. Chandler played Wide Receiver and Quarterback during the classic. Next year the 2nd Annual Mississippi Prospect All State Gridiron Classic will be grades 3rd-9th. So, get your highlights ready to send in! After a great performance in Atlanta Chandler received an invite a week later; lastly, on January 6th-8th Chandler and his family visited San Antonio, TX. This is where the NexGen Futures Combine was held along with the All American Army Bowl Game, which every participant received free tickets to the game. The combine was invitation only; there were 230 athletes that competed in several events. Chandler placed 2nd in the broad jump with 109 inches. (Over 9ft.) Athletes from New York and Hawaii were in attendance. Mr. Brent Williams started this vision for young athletes to get exposure and developmental training. Every athlete was timed by Zybek Sports which is the same company that does the NFL Scouting combine. Chandler is looking forward to finishing up his basketball season, they are undefeated. Next, stop is the baseball diamond! Chandler will be playing Varsity Baseball with the Magee Trojans and in the off season he will play with his travel select team, MAGIC Baseball Academy. Chandler is an 8th grade honor student at Magee Middle School. Chandler’s mother says, “I tell him daily how important it is to keep his grades up and to keep God first in everything he does.”” We are thankful for the many opportunities and the people placed in our path. Chandler is the son of DeWayne and Kathy Dampeer-Pittman and he has a little brother; Connor, that will follow in his footsteps.
