The 106 Forward Support Battalion of the 155th Brigade from Magee was honored by the Chamber of Commerce and City of Magee on Thursday, March 15, 2018 with a parade and luncheon before their deployment next week.
Troops marched down Main Street to First Baptist Family Life Center where a group picture was taken with Governor Phil Bryant.
Jamie May sang the National Anthem.
LauraLyn Barr, Chamber President, welcomed the soldiers and their families and introduced Governor Bryant.
Governor Bryant thanked the troops for their service and wished them the best of luck on their deployment.
Adjutant General of MS Major General Jason D Boyles spoke and solders stood at attention as Governor Bryant exited the building.
Alderman Whitney Baker and Chamber member introduced guest speaker C. J. Stewart. Stewart is a former solider that owns a camp for returning deployed military.
Rev. Jim Taylor, Pastor First Baptist Church, led in a word of prayer and all soldiers and families were treated to a meal.
Cooking was provided by Chris Williams and Farm Bureau.
