The deadline for the 2020 census is September 30, 2020. According to the New York Times, (August 5, 2020), 60 million household are still uncounted. The census is ending one month ahead of schedule. 63% of the nation has responded to the census.
Due to the pandemic, door-to-door visitation is unsafe. Census data is collected every ten years. The results affect political representation, federal funding to states and localities.
I am reposting the video I did with former Mayor Jimmy Clyde several months ago. As a former Mayor, Jimmy knows the importance of the census count. Chris Lane and the census committee have worked hard…the pandemic put a halt to many plans.
Please! Compete the census. The form takes very little time. If you need a form, contact City Hall. Personally, I feel we have at least 5,000 people in Magee. 5,000 population is almost the magic number for increased assistance from the government.
Please! Remind your neighbor. If you own rental property, check with your tenants.
Please! Spread the word!
Have a great day!
