Carolyn Marie Gumm passed away on December 3, 2022, in Ocean Springs, MS. She was born to Grover Starnes and Marion Ryvers Oglesby Starnes.

She married her husband, David Wallace Gumm in November 1943, and they were married for twenty-two years.

She grew up in Jackson, MS then moved to Mendenhall and finally settled in Ocean Springs in 2020. She attended Big Ridge Baptist Church in D’Iberville, MS, and loved serving the Lord. They lived in many states where she worked in the clerical field, and retired from the Department of Health after many years. She loved all of her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Marie Welch; sister, Shirley Fowler; grandchildren, Bon David Welch, Karea Welch; great-grandchildren, Jacelyn Welch, Kaston Welch, Thomas Welch, Emery Layne Wallace; nephew, Steve Fowler; nieces, Deb Fowler, Beth Fowler, and many loving cousins.

Along with her parents, Grover Starnes and Marion Ryvers Oglesby Starnes, she was preceded in death by her two sons, Michael Martin Jr. and John David Kennedy Jr.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022, from 12 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Tutor Funeral Home in Mendenhall, MS. Graveside service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Poplar Springs Cemetery in Mendenhall, MS.

Arrangements are entrusted with Tutor Funeral Home in Mendenhall.
