On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at approximately 1201 hours, a call came into Magee dispatch reporting a careless driver on Highway 28th West, heading into the city. A short time later, a diligent Magee officer spotted the vehicle on Highway 49 near the Budget Inn. During the traffic stop, the officer observed that the driver, identified as Jamie King, appeared to be under the influence of a substance. Further investigation revealed that King was in possession of prescription medication, drug paraphernalia, and 1.3 grams of methamphetamine.
King was subsequently arrested and booked into the Magee City Jail. Driving under the influence of any substance is dangerous, not only for the driver but also for others on the road. I would like to give thanks to the caller who reported this incident you may have just saved a life.
It’s important to remember that all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
