I had the privilege of meeting another SCA student who is working on their Senior project.  Calvin Smith, son Christy and Anthony Smith, has a divine calling from the Lord to pursue medicine.

Calvin told me when he was five years old, the Lord spoke to him and opened his eye to pediatrics.  While attending a conference for future medical leaders a few years ago, one of the guests spoke on the brain.  Calvin knew then his calling was as a pediatric neurologist.   Calvin has never veered from the path to medicine.  He will began his career at Mississippi College in August 2025.

After learning more about the brain, he felt led to raise awareness about the challenges of autism.

Calvin led a drive to collect pens, pencils, paper…and give each child (about 50) a teddy bear.  Calvin has reached his goal.

Calvin was/is a blessing to me.  To see a young man profess his love for Jesus Christ and willingness to answer the Lord’s call was overwhelming.  The world will be a better place with young people like Calvin Smith leading the way.
