C. S. Hemby
(August 1, 1928 – March 9, 2015)
U.S. Veteran CS Hemby, 86, of Magee died on Monday, March 9, 2015 at the Collins Veterans Home. He was born August 01, 1928 in Simpson County, Mississippi, to SE Hemby Jr. and Oydas Walker.

CS was a child of the Great Depression and those humble beginnings guided him along a lifelong path paved with hard word and frugality. He will be first and foremost remembered by all for his willingness to always help others. He married Ener Daughdrill in August 1952 and the marriage produced two children. He is survived by his daughter Darlene (Mike) Turner of Bossier City, LA and son Rick (Lory) Hemby of Hoover, AL. Also surviving is his brother Vernon Hemby, Columbus, MS; sister Evelyn Martin Roberts, Tulsa, OK; two grandsons Tyler Hemby, Blacksburg, VA and Drew (Theresa) Turner, McKinney, TX; one granddaughter Kaylene Cole-Daughdrill, Berkeley, CA; five great-grandchildren; and special friends, the Wayne Hill family Magee, MS.

CS joined the Air Force in 1951 after graduation from Magee High School. He served 20 years in the medical field with the Air Force achieving the rank of Tech Sargent before retiring and moving back to Magee in 1971. He had a second career as a Quality Control Inspector at Universal/Magnetic, retiring in 1986. He loved fishing, hunting, boiling peanuts, burning brush piles, telling stories and jokes, growing tomatoes, wearing Dickies coveralls, his Jack Russell Terriers, good coffee and smoking his pipe. In the last years of his life his favorite pastime was cleaning quail for the hunters at the Bouie Creek Quail Preserve.

He will be missed by all who knew him.

The visitation is from 2:00PM until 3:00PM with funeral service at 3:00PM on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Corinth Baptist Church, Magee, Mississippi.

The burial will follow at Corinth Baptist Church with Pastor Jay Westbrooks officiating.
