Chief Randy Crawford approached the board with the request to retire Jade the drug dog. The decision was to retire her and enter as surplus property and donate Jade to her owner. Chief also asked if the board would approve to purchase a new drug dog. The police department has funds of $7500.00 and would only need $2500.00 from the city. The board approved this purchase.
Discussed at the bi-monthly meeting of the Magee Board of Alderman was the recommendation of the retirement of Jade the drug dog.
The decision was to retire Jade and declare Jade surplus property allowing the opportunity to donate Jade to her handler, Landon Ates.
Chief Crawford also asked the board to approve the purchase of a new drug dog (a bite dog). The police department has $7,500 toward the purchase of a new dog and would only need $2,500 from the city. The board approved this purchase. Landon Ates will be the new dog’s handler and train with the dog for several weeks.
Kind of sad to see Jade go…he could sniff those drugs!
