Charles Baldwin, Tax Assessor, announced during the Simpson County Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday, January 15, 2019 that all business except three had satisfied taxes previously presented to the board. (A list is attached). The businesses that have not paid or made arrangements to pay have liens filed and warrants issued for personal property equipment.
Sheriff, Greg Reynolds, asked permission for Billy Seghni to attend USPCA, Region 26. The board approved the request. Permission was granted by the board to hire: Brittany Walker as a new part-time certified dispatcher, Tony Warden as a new part-time deputy certified to work as courtroom security for circuit and chancery court, Johnny Raymond Griffith a new part-time hire non-certified at the jail, and Davonte Middleton as a new part-time hire non-certified jailer.
The board approved the request of the City of Magee for culverts for a drainage project at 603 12th Ave Se. The cost of the 250 feet of 18 inch and 50 feet of 48 inch pipe and couplers is $5,474.93.
Approval was granted to advertise with Mendenhall High School Archery club in the amount of $500.00. The board approved to advertise with the Distinguished Young Women Program in the amount of $250.00. The board approved advertisement with the Magee Courier for the Source.
Approval was given to Eric Bowen, MACAC Treasurer, to open a band account for the Mississippi Association of County Administrator and Comptrollers for the 2019 year.
A reminder that the county offices will be closed on Monday, January 21, 2019 in observance of Marin Luther King holiday and Monday, February 18, 2019 in observance of President’s Day.
With no further business, the meeting was recessed until Friday, January 25, 2019 for a special called meeting to consider reverse auction bids for the chip spreader, the bituminous distributor, and other necessary business.
