The Scriptural passage chosen for today is found in Ephesians 4:29: “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” The gospel writer urged the early Christians to be ever-mindful of their treatment of one another, especially within their own body of believers. As he clearly stated, there was a great need to build one another up instead of tearing down. Encouragement of the weaker ones among them was very necessary then, just as it is today. Let us be very, very careful of what we say, how we say it, and how we act out our daily lives. Someone, especially the younger ones, is watching and absorbing. We are, after all, “human sponges,” as I call us. What kind of impression are we making? What legacy will we leave behind? Think before speaking or acting. Amen!
