Local citizen Brian Hubbard appeared before the Mayor and Board of Aldermen Tuesday night, February 15th, 2022 concerning his displeasure with management of the City of Magee airport. Mr. Hubbard houses his plane at the Magee Airport.
Hubbard listed 4 specific items:
1. February 11, 2022 discovered the fuel filters were due for a change in August 2021.
2. August 2019 field tank empty
3.Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) are not posted timely or not al all. As of today (February 14) there are no NOTAMs although the airport is closed.
4. Jet fuel tank certified out of FAA regulation is no fuel.
According to Brian Hubbard, “it appears the day-to-day operations are not being performed. The City’s leadership and the Board of Alderman have continuously chosen not to address the concern and issues in relation to the airport operations and the position is clearly not being managed or held accountable by the city’s leadership.”
“The City of Magee, as well as Simpson County, has an asset with the airport and should ensure proper management of this department,” stated Hubbard.
No action was taken on Mr. Hubbard’s complaints but will be taken under advisement.
