WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) today commended Patrick Benton, a Braxton native who recently completed an eight-week summer internship in the Senator’s Washington office.
Benton, a graduate of Simpson Academy, is a senior pharmacy major at the University of Mississippi. During his internship, Benton worked with the Senator’s healthcare legislative staff and assisted in researching and monitoring healthcare reform proposals. He also assisted the administrative staff and worked on constituent services.
Benton is the son of Joe and Rhoda Benton of Braxton.
The Cochran internship program is designed to give young Mississippi students a firsthand opportunity to experience the federal legislative process and the operation of a U.S. Senate office.
