Patricia Braddock, AgriScience & Natural Resources Instructor has been chosen as Teacher of the Year at Simpson County Technical Center. She is also advisor for the school’s FFA Chapter. She received a Bachelors degree in Animal & Dairy Science and a Masters degree in Agricultural Education from Mississippi State University. This recognition is a testament to her tenacity in being the best she can be each and every day. MS Braddock is a model teacher and keeps every student at the center of what she does. She focuses on encouraging her students to embrace higher level thinking and understands that every student learns in a different way. She has students participate in service projects to learn about their community and world and believes this will lead them to become future productive citizens.
“Her students clearly know objectives when they come into the classroom every day and are ready to work, whether it’s in the shop, at the farm, or in the lab”, said, Dr. Huffman (Director). MS Braddock creates a creates a personal connection with students and uses humor to help them feel more comfortable and less pressured, so that they are ready to interact in the classroom and lab. Each period of the day brings with it a different type of lesson, a lab, or activity, and then hands-on interactive instruction. She has been lauded by colleagues and administrators for her efforts and her work with instruction and the community and especially with students. Beyond the knowledge, the best teaching practices, and the rigorous standards – MS Braddock genuinely loves her students.
