Bonnie was born October 5, 1934 to Harvey and Lula Amason in their home in Smith County. She married the love of her life, Mike McAplin. Married for 63 years. At age 25, Bonnie gave birth to their daughter, Janice. Bonnie was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, where she attended all her life.
One of the most important things in her life was Jesus. And she wanted everyone to know and love her Lord. She loved her husband, her daughter, son-in-law, her grandson and his wife, and her 2 great-grandson’s.
She loved her family, her church family and all her friends. Bonnie was also a great cook and put love into everything she cooked. She loved to prepare meals for her family and took pride in her homemade ice-cream. She could sew and decorate the home.
Jesus Christ and her role as mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, were the most important things to Bonnie. This is where she drew her strength and left her legacy.
Being with her family was what Bonnie enjoyed most of all. Her love and caring for her family remained her focus and in so many, many ways, she was able to show that love to us. This perseverance through adversity is a powerful lesson for us, and we believe it is her legacy. What wonderful lessons she taught: Keep your priorities straight; keep that which is most important in focus. She loved to sing about her Lord. She sang in the church choir and sang solos and specials. She was a very talented lady. She loved to get a group of people around the piano and sing hymns. She loved it when a quartet or some group came to sing at the church. Some other important things in her life were gardening and she took great pride in her flowers.
