Tuesday night, February 22, 2022, at the Mendenhall Armory, a public forum for the citizens of Simpson County was held concerning the passage of the School Bond issue  The forum was hosted by the Mendenhall Chamber of Commerce and the City of Mendenhall.

Personal from the County Office presented the program allowing for a question and answer period.  Superintendent of Education Dr. Toriano Holloway led the presentation.  Dr. Holloway explained in detail the advantages of the passage of the school bond.

Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Deirdre Randell spoke on the relationship of student performance and property value with passage of the bond.  Student achievement and property value go hand in hand.

Assistant  Superintendent for Human Resources and  Operations Dr. Robert Sanders explained that Mendenhall High School is 57 years old and Magee High School 66 years.  Dr. Sanders explained the importance of building a school with one way in and one way out for safety.” We will save money and be more efficient with the spending of our dollars,” emphasized Dr Sanders.

Mrs. Joanna Maddox Director of Finance spoke on the impact the bond issue will have on taxes etc.
