Simpson County Board of Supervisors met Monday, June 13, 2016 for their regular scheduled meeting.

Randy Moore, President, called meeting to order.

  1. Request for speed limit of 30 miles per hour on Kiley Welch Road was approved.

Tommy Joe Harvey, Chancery Clerk, gave his report.

  1. Howard Industries application for Ad Valorem Tax Exempt of 10 years as authorized by section 27-31-7 & Section 27-31-1901, ET SEQ., & Section 57-10-439(2) of the Mississippi code of 1972, as amended was approved.

Rhuel Dickinson, County Administrator, gave his report as follows:

  1. Adopt an order to approve the claims docket fo June 13, 2016, in the amount of $522,229.10 and the electronic payment for VISA in the amount of $1,418.50.
  2. Authorize the May 2016 Completed Claims Docket to be made part of the minutes and for the Board president to sign.
  3. Approve the Financial Reports and Solid Waste Reports for the Month of May, 2016, as presented by the County Administrator.
  4. Approval of replacement of the air conditioning system at the Harrisville Library. Costs are estimated to be between $3,500 ad %4,000.00 for a new system.
  5. Consider the proposal from 49 Tire Mart for retreating county owned truck tire casting for $145.00 each. New tires cost about $350.00 each. In addition, 49 Tire Mart offers to purchase the virgin tire castings to be disposed of by the County for $20.00 each. This action was tabled.
  6. Consider the Solid Waste Caterpillar Backhoe Loader. The lease is about to expire. $45,000 is owned but it is in great shape. Has between 1100 and 1200 hours of operation. Have requested buy back information and refinancing options.
  7. Approve application travel, meals, lodging, registration and mileage expenses for:
    1. Ben Warren, Road Manager, to attend the Mississippi Association of Supervisors Annual Conference and Road Managers’ Meeting in Biloxi, MS. June 14-17, 2016.
  8. Acknowledge and Record in the Board Minutes:
    1. Thank you note from Hana Lester, Magee’s Miss Hospitality 2016.

No further business meeting was adjourned until Next Month’s scheduled meeting.
