Simpson County Board of Supervisors approved repairs to Chancery Building and Courthouse elevators in accordance with the requirements of the recent inspection report with the lowest bid from Mississippi Elevator, LLC at a price of $5,300 for the Chancery Building and $6,385 for the Court House during their regular scheduled meeting Monday, March 5, 2018.

 

The board approved a request from MDOT for a temporary construction easement and authority to install some traffic control devices to improve safety at the intersection of Hwy 49 North and Zion Hill Road. Plans are to close the entrance from Hwy 49 at Ballyhoo and redirect all traffic to frontage road.

Approval was given for the renewal of the 2018-2019 Fire Department liability package, $30,162.00, and auto policy $18.323, policies.

 

The board approved the renewal of the maintenance agreement fro the five county generators with Taylor Power Systems in the amount of $3,198.00.

 

Sheriff O’Cain advised the MHP Cadet Class 62 would be graduating Tuesday, March 6, 2018 and Simpson County would be receiving two new highway patrol officers for the area.

 

The following travel was approved: Tommy Joe Harvey, Rhuel Dickinson, and Eric Brown permission to attend the Chancery Clerks, County Administrators and Comptrollers Spring Joint Education Workshop April 17-18, 2918, in Jackson, MS. Supervisors and staff permission to attend the 2018 Annual MAPDDD Conference April 24-27, 2018 in Biloxi, MS. Permission was granted for Supervisors and Staff to attend the 2018 Annual Mississippi Association of Supervisors Annual Conference June 11-14, 2018 in Biloxi, MS.

 

No further business meeting was recessed until March 15, 2018 meeting.
