Simpson County Board of Supervisors met Thursday, September 15, 2016 for their regular scheduled meeting.

2017 Budget & Tax Levy Hearing was at 9:00 a.m. Concerned citizens met before board to express their feeling and/or support of the tax levy.

Ben Warren, Road Manger, gave his monthly report.

Scott Womack, Chief of Staff, spoke for Sheriff Don O’Cain. He asked the board to approve E J McKay to move to sergeant and pay to increase from $15.30 to $15.55.

Also, Office Killpatrick to receive raise with DUI grant and move his pay from $15.55 to $16.10. This is funded with DUI grant and at little cost to county.

 

Tommy Joe Harvey, Chancery Clerk, noted the only candidate for School Board district One (1) was Lillie Hardy.

Rhuel Dickinson, county Administrator gave his report.

  1. Adopt an Order to approve the Claims Docket for September 15, 2016, in the amount of $905,947.22 and the electronic payment claim for VISA in the amount of $989.50.
  2. Authorize the August 2016 Completed Claims Docket to made a part of the minutes and for the Board President to sign.
  3. Approve the Financial Reports and Solid Waste Reports for the month of August 2016, as presented by the County Administrator.
  4. Approve the Insurance Proposal of Insurance Associates for the 2017 fiscal year (with changes deleting non-operational vehicles) and immediate issuance of payment upon the opening of the 2017 fiscal year budget.
  5. Approve the proposal of Chem Pro for herbicide spray service on county roads for the fiscal year 2017 in the estimated amount of $135,960.10.
  6. Approve the release from Juanita Garner Turner for closure reclamation work at Garner Gravel Pit.
  7. Approve the contract for professional services with Windham and Lacey, PLLC, for the compilation of the annual financial statements of Simpson County for the fiscal year 2015 in the amount of $10,000.00.
  8. Approve applicable travel, meals, lodging, registration and mileage expenses for:
    1. Rhuel Dickinson, County Administrator, to attend Office of the State Auditor Continuing Educational Program in Brandon, MS on October 12 & 13, 2016, at the cost of $200.00 for registration.
  9. County Authorize the claims and immediate issuance of checks for the following:
    1. Hancock Bank, $1119.00 for MAC Dump Truck (New).
  10. Acknowledge and record in the board minutes:
    1. D’Lo Water Park Daily Recap report for August 2016

No further business.  Meeting was recessed until September 30, 2016.
