The Simpson County Board of Supervisors met Monday, May 3, 2921. All board members were present.

The April minutes were approved.

Mr. Booker Woodard spoke before the board on the history of his family with a plea for recognition of his family.  Due to the length of his presentation, Board President Randy Moore called time on Mr. Woodard.

Steve Womack came before the board with information about his company Maintenance Systems Inc.  The board members will study the information about the system.

County Engineer Buddy Wolverton presented the Status of State-Aid & LSBP Projects.

Road manager Ben Warren discussed the difficulties in finding good used equipment.  The county crew is continuing clean up from the ice storm. Three individuals were presented and approved for hire in the County Road crew:  Anthony Floyd (has his CDL)-$13.78 per hour; Clayton Sistrunk-$12.78 per hour; and Ricky Shoemake -$12.78 per hour.

The engine in a packer burned up.  Warren has not been able to find a used engine but continues to look.  

A heated discussion took place between Supervisors Mitchell Chapman and Brian Kennedy.  The problem seemed to be a question concerning the halting of road work in Chapman’s district near Kennedy’s home.

The company who won the bid to pick up scrap metal has been a no show.  Warren is to contact the company and set a final pick up date.

Sheriff Paul Mullins reported:  Andrew Bowman dispatch new hire certified full time $1138.17 semi-monthly.  Bowman is a transfer from Simpson County road Department to Simpson County Dispatch.  Two used vehicles will be given to the county.  Rankin County is donating a 2016 Ford which has a K9 box.  The other truck is coming from the coast.

Chancery Clerk Tommy Joe Harvey appointment Wayne Magee as a jury commissioner to fulfill the term of Commissioner Namon Williams who passed away.  Mr. Magee’s term will run 1-20-23.

County Administrator Rhuel Dickinson presented the following report.

With no other business, the meeting was adjourned until Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 8:00AM.
