Suzanne Keys, Brittney Womack, and Dr. Holloway were present in support of a new program hopefully coming to our county through Mendenhall Ministries.  Ms. Keyes presented information about the new program, “Son Solar.”  The committee will be applying for prizes through the Federal Government which will bring alternative uses of solar energy.

Road manager Ben Warren was not present.  County Engineer Greg Bonds updated road information in the county.  (see video)

Sheriff Paul Mullins presented the following report:

Tax Assessor Collector Jamie Brewer had no new business.  Emergency management John Kilpatrick reported “we were prepared for the hurricane.”   Eric Bowen, County Administrator presented the following report.

All items listed for approval were approved.

Charlie Welch

Charlie Welch approved the inventory count.  Questions still remain about the court house roof.  2 of the 3 leaks are resolved.  A water test will be performed in the area of the 3rd leak.

Supervisor Danny Craft questioned the removal and then reentering of a  truck in surplus.  Items cannot be placed in surplus and then removed without proper procedure.  (The item in questions was to be placed in the upcoming auction.). The Board questioned whether the Road Manager, Ben Warren, was doing his job.  Donny Welch explained he was worried about the legal side of the removal and reentering surplus.

Wayne Womack questioned “vote to fix or scrap…is the truck in for repair or scrap?”  Danny Craft stated,” how do we have no title (on a county truck)…how did we do that?”

Mention was made that there is strife between the road manager, other department heads, and employees.

Wayne Womack made a motion to move the truck back into inventory and repair.  The motion passed.

Jeremy Gilbert of EDCO.  The company has been in business since 1961.  EDCO is in road side management.  Mr Gilbert’s presentation explained the method the company uses to control growth on the side of the road.

The meeting was adjourned for executive session.
